The medication assistance includes

Reminders

  • The caregiver will remind you of the medicines on time and will assist you with the medication.
  • Appointments with your doctor will be reminded ahead of time.
Supervision

  • Every medicine administered to the patient will be strictly supervised by the caregiver.
  • If a patient refuses to take medicine, it will be taken care of as the caregiver is aware of the withdrawal effects of medicines.
  • Any adverse drug reaction/allergies will be given immediate medical attention if needed.
Secure storage of medication

  • Medication will be stored in original packagings, such as a Dose Administration Aid (DAA) or other dispensed container to minimize the risk of errors.
  • All medications must be kept in secure lockable storage – pillbox.
  • Medications that may be required urgently by the patient will be kept readily accessible and able
    to be used promptly when required.
Documentation and logging

  • The caregiver will keep records of daily medication doses taken
  • Documentation of any medication incidents/errors.
  • Information about the resident’s allergies and details of any previous adverse reactions.
  • Comments regarding any medication changes and medication-related issues
